ABOUT FOYBLE
foyble.com aims to inspire goodwill by allowing people to tell us about their acts of goodwill (we call ‘em foybles). We also be offer services to non-profits, charities, companies, or any organization with a mission for giving.
Look out for these unique features as you browse the site:
foybles: foybles are acts of good will. A foyble is as grand or as humble as you want it to be. A foyble is a cup of coffee or a million dollars. Sometimes you commit your foyble because you’ve been inspired by someone else’s story on this site. Sometimes you want to inspire someone yourself.
The Thread Viewer: The Thread Viewer is like a slideshow of benevolence. When foybles are connected together, people visiting the site can launch the thread viewer to see all the acts and how they are linked together. As you browse foybles, see if you can find one with the “view thread” button enabled. Then, try committing an act of good will powerful enough to launch a giving thread that wraps around the world- you’ll be able to see it right here on foyble.com!
The Act Map: The Act Map on the front page of foyble.com shows where the most recent foybles have been happening. Mouse over the pins to see a little preview of the story or click a pin to be taken to the foyble on the user’s profile page. When you tell us your story, we ask you where it happened. Once you’re done, we’ll put a little pin on the map to show everyone who comes by that something good happened there. You even have your own personalized Act Map on your profile page. The Act Map on your profile page shows only your foybles. See how many pins you can put on the world!
Other Tools: Individuals or organizations can start and administer groups right on the site. You can maintain a calendar, post events that need volunteers, and ask people to join your group on foyble. When they do, they can link their acts of goodwill to your group so you can see if your group as a whole is inspiring goodwill. A group can be a company or charity or can just be a group of friends who share a special passion for giving. Check out this group and this charity for some examples.
