Compassionate Capitalism Resources

This page is where we are keeping a list of all the places and stores that can help you become a compassionate capitalist- make sure you check out the original post where we discuss our thoughts on compassionate capitalism here. On with the list!

Buy Stuff:

Toms Shoes: “one for one”- you buy shoes, they give shoes to kids who need shoes. Simple philosophy, pretty cool shoes.

Ethos Water: Starbucks bought these guys in 2005- now they donate five cents to the Ethos water fund for every bottle sold. Helps support water, sanitation, and hydration education throughout the world. Thirsty for the GIVE?

Project 7: Not to be outdone, Caribou Coffee (my preference over Sbux btw) sells Project 7 water. Their philosophy is: “you buy, we give”. They have 7 philosophies for needs they address.

Noteworthycrafts Etsy Store: Noteworthy Crafts sells fine art reproductions, jewelry and note cards with a portion of the the proceeds benefitting charity. They also offer PIF items (Pay It Forward). Pay It Forward items only cost the price of the listing fee and in return the buyer is asked to either list a PIF item in their shop or do a kind deed for someone else.

Compassionate Investing:

Investing for Good: We’ll just let them describe what they do: “Investing for Good offers independent investment services for portfolios whose primary mission is positive social and environmental change.”

Domini Investments: Again, straight from their homepage: As a shareholder in the Domini Funds, you make a difference in the world. Engaging companies on global warming, sweatshop labor, and product safety. Revitalizing distressed communities. Bringing new voices to the table. Redefining corporate America’s bottom line.
