Four ideas for starting the GIVE on spring break
Mar 24th
It’s spring break time! When I was younger this meant something different than it means to me now. These days, I’m excited to see the crocuses blooming, pining to get my garden planted, and enjoying pretending that 57 degree weather makes me happy.
I have three kids. They are five, three, and 6 months old. Next year, my wife and I will have to schedule our vacation around SCHOOL. This blows my mind of course. But many of you already have kids in school and are used to waiting until spring break to vacation with your family. So we thought we would think about how you can spend your precious spring break time with your family but not lose track of the give while you’re out and about. More >
8.8 Richter Scale Earthquake strikes Chile. Time to foyble, once again!
Mar 1st
On February 27, 2010, a catastrophic earthquake measuring 8.8 on the Richter Scale devastated Chile and triggered tsunami warnings throughout the Pacific. This quake has killed over 700 people at the time of this writing and more are being found every hour it seems.
Just because Chile is not as economically and “structurally-challenged” as Haiti, does NOT mean the people of Chile do not need your help. They do!
That in mind, and like our article last month on how to help the people of Haiti, the foyble guys are providing you with some options to lend a hand to Chile. Just REMEMBER: If you’ve donated time, money, or talents to any world disaster relief, be sure to share you story on foyble to inspire others to do the same!
The great folks at Mashable have compiled a list of ways to donate, so we’ll help spread the word:
Text it and know that Verizon, At&T, Sprint and T-mobile have waived messaging fees for these spots:
1. Text the word “CHILE” to 25383 to donate $10 on behalf of the Habitat for Humanity
2. Text the word “CHILE” to 20222 to donate $10 on behalf of World Vision
3. Text the word “CHILE” to 52000 to donate $10 on behalf of the Salvation Army
4. Text the word “CHILE” to 85944 to donate $10 on behalf of International Medical Corp.
1. American Red Cross— the American Red Cross International Response Fund helps victims of crises such as the Chile and Haiti earthquakes. If you wish to designate your funds to a specific crisis, you’ll need to mail in your donation.
2. Americares— funds go exclusively to the Chilean earthquake (and tsunami relief, should further tragedies occur)
3. Google Crisis Response, with channels benefiting UNICEF and DirectRelief International
– use your Google Checkout account to donate instantly to these charities
4. World Vision Disaster Response Fund - your money goes towards relief efforts for global disasters worldwide (not Chile specifically).
Foyble on. Help the World. Start the GIVE.

“What is Foyble?” video and why we’re allowed to say its AWESOME!
Aug 21st
People everywhere are loving the “What is Foyble?” video! You can see it by clicking on the “What is Foyble” youtube button on the foyble homepage or by going to youtube here.
We can’t stop telling everyone how AMAZING the video is and how perfectly it captures the spirit and purpose of foyble. Why are we so bold as to brag about our own movie, you ask? I’ll tell you why….WE DIDN’T MAKE IT!
You see, the adventures of Darlene and Charlie is a foyble itself. Justin Lebanowski is a talented grad of USC’s film school and lives in LA. He also just happens to know a couple guys that are dead set on creating a website to change the world and start the GIVE. We called him up with an idea of putting together a video introduction to our site. We were resigned to the idea of shaky camcorders, scratchy audio, nature’s light, and maybe putting Foy in a makeshift santa suit running around changing tires and giving candy to kids. We asked Justin for advice. What he gave us was unbelievable.
Justin recruited his friend and fellow filmmaker TJ Martin and they put their amazing talents to work to create a video that introduces foyble to the world. They also provided an outstanding cast and crew that brought life, fun, and humanity to our concept. In the spirit of foyble, its critical for us to recognize all the people on the west coast that made this project possible and so, so special!
Darlene: Katy Farzanrad
